White Cloud Express Departs on Its Maiden Xinjiang Voyage

On 7 September the White Cloud Express left Guangzhou on its first 18-day Xinjiang panorama, the debut run for the Lingnan-styled train on the route it will repeat through 2027. The 2026 programme operates once only, with en-suite cabins from RMB 88,880 (Yunqi Yayun) or RMB 108,880 (Yunqi Lanyue). The train is due back on 24 September; the 2027 season opens with the Tianshan Brocade edition on 18 May.

Autumn 2026: the Golden-Season Departures Still Open, from RMB 66,999

Autumn is the premium season on China's luxury rail calendar: the poplar forests of the Tarim Basin turn gold, the Kanas larches flame red, and the light over the Tianshan softens. Still open for booking: the New Orient Express runs its 14-day north-south Xinjiang programme on 13 and 27 September from RMB 66,999; the White Cloud Express sails its single Golden-Wind Panorama edition on 14 September from RMB 108,880; and the Jinxiu Tianfu Express adds a National Day departure on 2 October that works the north of the region only, with the Duku Highway closed for the season.

China's Railways Carried 4.45 Million Foreign Passengers This Summer, up 32.2 Percent

China State Railway Group reported on 1 September that the 62-day summer rush (1 July to 31 August) closed with 954 million passenger trips, including 4.447 million by foreign travellers, up 32.2 percent year on year, which the railway credits to the visa-free entry and transit policies. The network also ran 699 tourism trains over the summer, 415 of them dedicated tourism specials. For anyone weighing a luxury rail booking, it is the clearest signal yet that China's inbound growth is landing on the rails.

Hulunbuir Express Confirms 2026 Dual Seasons: Summer Grassland and Winter Ice Festival

Inner Mongolia's Hulunbuir Express has confirmed its two-season 2026 programme. The summer grassland season runs through the green months with access to the Hulunbuir prairie, Erguna wetlands, and Mongolian herder culture. The winter ice festival season transforms the same route into a snow-bound journey with ice sculpture parks and frozen-lake activities. Both seasons operate as all-inclusive rail tours with en-suite cabins and a dedicated dining car.

White Cloud Express Confirms Two 2027 Editions: Tianshan Brocade and Golden-Wind Panorama

The operator of the Southern Train, White Cloud (南方列车·白云号) has published its full 2027 structure: two curated 18-day editions sharing one identical north-south Xinjiang route. Tianshan Brocade (天山锦书版) runs six sailings from 18 May to 24 August, from 98,880 RMB. Golden-Wind Panorama (金风画卷版) sails once on 14 September, from 108,880 RMB. Both offer multi-choice routing in Altay (Route A or B) and Yili-Kuqa (Route A, B, or C). The train departs Guangzhou via Chongqing and Lanzhou to Urumqi, then crosses the entire Xinjiang corridor.

Lindou Express Opens Bookings for the Greater Khingan Forest and Aurora Season

The Lindou Express (林都号), China's northernmost luxury train, has opened its 2026 to 2027 winter booking window. Built around spacious 21 m² suites, the train pairs rail travel with forest lodges, ice-lake excursions, and aurora viewing near Mohe, the country's northernmost town. The summer green season continues to run through the birch forests and wetland reserves of the Greater Khingan Range.

Jinxiu Tianfu Unveils 2027 Xinjiang Season: Eight Departures Across Two Curated Editions

Sichuan's flagship luxury train, the Jinxiu Tianfu (锦绣天府号), has confirmed its 2027 north-south Xinjiang programme. Eight departures run between May and October aboard the world's first Shu Brocade Song Rhyme themed train, developed by Chengdu Railway Bureau with Sichuan Tourism Investment. Two editions share the same 16-day route but differ in seasonal character: the Tianshan Mu Ge edition (six sailings from 19 May) and the Liujin Song Ge edition (two sailings from 29 August), the latter alone including the full Duku Highway crossing. The 18-carriage train carries 92 guests across 46 rooms, with the 13 m² JinTa suite and 10 m² JinWo room. Fares from 79,880 RMB per person.

New Orient Express 2027 Season Official: Snow Lotus Enters Third Generation

China Railway Urumqi Group has published the official 2027 product release for the third-generation New Orient Express, now designated the "Snow Lotus" (雪莲号). The new configuration introduces a refined two-tier suite system: Supreme Gold Diamond (至尊金钻, 12 m², 3 suites per carriage, 6 guests max) and Imperial Gold Diamond (玺悦金钻, 8 m², 4 suites per carriage, 8 guests max). Both tiers feature private en-suite bathrooms with dry-wet separation and twin-to-double bed conversion. New rolling stock additions include a dedicated entertainment carriage with piano, cocktail bar, lounge seating, and a private smoking room, plus a 60-seat dining carriage operating at a 150 RMB per-meal standard. All-inclusive pricing confirmed for 2027: Spring from 58,999 RMB, Summer from 62,999 RMB, Autumn from 66,999 RMB.

2027 Departure Calendar Published: 13 Dates Across Three Seasons

The full 2027 departure schedule has been released. Spring season (April 16, May 7, May 20) operates without the Duku Highway segment at the most accessible price tier. Summer peak (June 2 through August 11, six fortnightly departures) includes the full Duku Highway crossing and Ili lavender bloom window. Autumn golden season (August 30, September 13, September 27) offers the highest prices but the most sublime conditions for southern Xinjiang and the Pamir Plateau. All departures follow the identical 14-day North-South Panorama route: Urumqi → Heavenly Lake → Kanas → Hemu → Sayram Lake → Nalati → Bayanbulak → Duku Highway → Kuqa Grand Canyon → Kashgar → Pamir Plateau → Turpan → Urumqi.

The operator has published the complete 14-day itinerary. Three nights are spent aboard the train with ten nights in premium hotels, a deliberate rhythm that balances rail romance with ground-level immersion. Eight signature banquets punctuate the journey: a welcome reception, Kazakh family feast, Burqin cold-water fish, Sayram Lake whitefish, Pamir yak hotpot, Kashgar whole-roast lamb, Turpan fruit banquet, and a farewell gala. VIP direct access is included at all five major scenic areas (Tianchi, Hemu, Kanas, Nalati, Bayanbulak), with 7-seat business vehicles deployed for the Duku Highway and deep Nalati grassland access. Guangzhou Baiyun Investment Group unveiled the "Southern Train · White Cloud" Chinese-aesthetic luxury tourist train for 2027. An 18-day north-south Xinjiang circuit with 6 luxury suites at 13.7 m², 40 premium rooms, a Chinese courtyard-style lobby car, and Cantonese-Hunan fusion dining. Departures from Guangzhou via Chongqing to Urumqi, then across the full Xinjiang corridor.

Tianshan Express Unlocks the Duku Highway with Train-to-Coach Model

China Railway Urumqi Group launched the Tianshan Express, a new brand built from upgraded New Orient Express Silver Diamond and Blue Diamond carriages. The innovative "train + private coach" model integrates the full 561 km Duku Highway into a railway itinerary for the first time. 4-person and 2-person soft-sleeper suites, all with en-suite bathrooms. Season: June-September 2026. Updated September 2026: the Bayanbulak section of the Duku Highway is not open to holders of foreign passports; Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan documents can travel the full route. Overseas guests travel a substitute routing through northern Xinjiang and Yili, arranged by the operator.

Marking the 20th anniversary of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the Beautiful Sky Road Express launched as a dedicated Tibet cultural tourism train. Two panoramic observation cars with windows 24 cm wider than standard, plus 9 soft-sleeper cars. Every berth equipped with pulse oxygen supply for high-altitude comfort. Tibetan design throughout: auspicious motifs, wood-carved details, and a "Golden Mountain at Sunrise" exterior livery.

Chengdu Culture & Tourism Group released dates for the Panda Express Chengdu's 2027 Xinjiang season. Six departures between June and August 2027 from Chengdu Anjing Station. The 16-day Panoramic Xinjiang route returns with confirmed stops at Turpan, Kashgar, Kuqa, Duku Highway, Ili, Sayram Lake, Altay and Kanas.
